Helping Military Families During Medical Crises Because A Family's Love Is Good Medicine

A Fisher House is a “home away from home” where active military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is undergoing a medical crisis

Every night, 1,100 military families are sleeping safely in a Fisher House

To date 92 homes are located at major military and VA medical centers nationwide, close to the medical center or hospital they serve. Fisher Houses typically have 16 - 20 suites, with private bedrooms and baths. Families share a common kitchen, laundry facilities, a community dining room and living room.

Friends of Fisher House-Illinois ensures that there is never a lodging fee plus provides all food and beverages and quality of life outings for families. Since inception, the nationwide Fisher House program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $407 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.
